Incredible Imperia

Surviving the 24 hour wait at the airport and my 3 hour flight, i had arrived back in Milan. However, my second time in Milan had to wait as i was taking a train to….. IMPERIA! My awesome friend Emily grew up and lived in the city of Imperia and our schedules aligned nicely such that i could visit! What’s better, our friend Scarlett was nearby and managed to visit during the same time a well, so it was bound to be an amazing few days :))) Upon arrival we headed back to Emily’s place to drop my stuff and head out for dinner. Emily’s home is on top of a huge hill so it is as amazing as you’re imagining in your head (i’ll let the photos do the talking as it’s really quite surreal for someone like me). I also got to meet Emily’s family that afternoon, who were so kind and nice to me throughout my week in the city! Dinner was as any other Italian dinner = BLOODY AMAZING. The next few days involved exploring the city of Imperia and surrounding cities (Sanremo, Cervo, etc). Rather than cover every single thing we did, i will just mention the highlights as there are TOOOO many things to recount them all here HAHA. Soooooo

  1. Exploring the city of Imperia (and nearby cities) was a absolute highlight as it was so different from the other cities i had visited in Italy. As Imperia isn’t a touristy place, the feel of the city was completely different and felt more traditionally Italian! I really got a to connect to the real Italian heartland (In my opinion)
  2. Meeting Emily’s friends and family was another favourite part of mine. One thing i absolutely love is meeting people from different parts of the world and learning different perspectives, lifestyles & outlooks. So, getting to meet, interact and converse with so many people during my 8 days was an absolute dream! Plus Emily’s friends and family and pretty damn awesome 😉  (The only way to describe her dad is old-school boss)
  3. The Ineja Fair & Party at Alesso’s place. The Ineja fair is pretty much the Oktoberfest of Imperia, where the entire city celebrates in food & drink. I was super-lucky to have experienced it as it only happens for ONE week out of the year! The party at Alesso’s refers to a party at Emily’s father’s friend’s place. It was just an great, great party and showed me how Italians party, no doubt in my mind that they know how to have a good time 😀
  4. Lastly, getting to hangout with Emily and Scarlett again!    Needless to say why, for such incredible friends (❤️ )

It was not easy to bid them farewell but as with all good things, it had to come to an end. An eternity’s worth of gratitude to Emily and her amazing family for hosting me and giving me an unforgettable week in Imperia!

(Waiting for your visit to Singapore, Emily!)
