Terrific Tuscany

From Venice, we travelled south to the heart of the Tuscan region, Florence. Here we spent 5 days and it was wonderful (i’m running out of adjectives for Italy).

We spent a day exploring the Tuscan countryside (my dad drove) which was gorgeous. Exquisite views of the rolling hills and mountains, incredible Italian food and wine (yes friends I actually tried the wine), and we even met the famous Italian butcher, Dario Cecchini!

We spent the other 4 days within the city of Florence, exploring the place that started the renaissance. We saw the resting places of famous men like Michealangelo and Galleo and their famous works. I mean, we got to see THE DAVID from David vs Goliath! Moreover, Florence is also known for their “Biscetta ala Florentina” which is their very famous, massive steaks. Needless to say, my brother and I stripped a 1.5kg steak down to the T-bone, Ron Swanson would have been proud.

My favourite part would have to be the cathedrals within the city. Just massive pieces of art in the form of a church, it does not get more maginificent than that. I would actually spend time just staring at the buildings both internally and externally because they were so beautiful, you just can’t look away.

Before heading to Cinque Terre (next stop), we made a short stop in Pisa to see the iconic leaning tower. In all honestly, looking at the tower messed with my eyes because I kept questioning whether it was really leaning (you gotta see it in person to get what this means). The walk up was HILARIOUS because everyone was basically hugging the sides to walk up (due to the lean).

All in all, Tuscany turned out to be the favourite region of my travels in Italy and this was by no means my last visit to this awesome city and country
