Streets of Marrakech

After bidding goodbye to my parents in Rome, my brother and I took a flight to Marakech via Casablanca and finally, we were in MOROCCO! As we were staying in the heart of the city, we were pretty much dropped into the deep end when it came to the life within the city. Small streets and hustlers on every corner, we were pretty alarmed initially, especially on arrival. It was crowded busy with people hollering at you from all sides. Thank goodness for our awesome host who was there to greet us and bring us to the Riad. Riad Micheal (name of our Accoms) was amazing 🙂

Rooms that required no heating or cooling to remain at a perfect temperature, open top roof and an amazing breakfast for only 4 euros! [Tip for Marrakech, NEVER take directions & advice from the youth hanging around the streets, they are usually running a scam where they lead you in the wrong direction to try and extort to you. Try to get google maps or ask the women/elderly around as they are far more reliable!]

Despite the hustlers it was really cool to explore the never-ending, narrow streets, eat the delicious  yet healthy food (especially at night markets) and soak in the overall chill vibe of the city. Something i was amazed at was how many of the store vendors could speak three official UN languages (English, French, Arabic) and i was barely literate in 2 languages! After our 3 days in Marrakech, it was time to head south for our next adventure 😉
