From Milan, it was just a few hours by train to Venice. After the punishing travels last year during the Transiberian trip, these short train rides felt like luxury to me 😀
Venice was as magnificent as described. People refer to different places as the “Venice of the region”, so it was quite insane to me that I was ACTUALLY standing in THE Venice!
When we arrived, we faced a serious problem as the waterbuses (yes they have waterbuses, which is so cool) were not operational for another 2 hours after we arrived. Hence, we were faced with either paying 80 euros for a gondola ride to the accoms or walking 4km through most of Venice. We chose the walk and while it was exhausting carrying all that load (I had my three bags and my mum’s luggage) up and down the bridges & through throngs of people, it was incredibly rewarding as we basically got a general overview of most of the city! So, next time anyone visits Venice, I recommend walking to your accoms 😉
We had 3 days and 2 nights in Venice and we spent it visiting some of the best sights I ever saw (St Mark’s Cathedral and Doge’s Palace especially) and having some of the best meat platters I ever had, oh! And Dal Forno’s pasta was pretty damn awesome 😀 I really need not say more as the photos do all the descriptions for me.
Next up, it was a trip to the heart of the renaissance…….
