Singapore held a version of the Model ASEM in RVRC (Residential college Iβm staying at in NUS) and I got the chance to actually be Chair of the event! The process was exactly the same as that of the 8th Model ASEM that I participated in earlier with the difference being the scale at which it took place. It was a much smaller scale with participants mostly from the S.E.A. region. After participating as a delegate it was incredible to get a chance to Chair an event like this. It was exhausting with the workload/responsibility that the Chair has as well as the lack of time to interact/bond with the participants (in contrast with the time I had in Myanmar). However, it was a massive learning opportunity being given a leading role in the discussions and gave me further insight into diplomacy in general π
Highlights would be the visit to the Norwegian Embassy, the opening ceremony (where I had to shake the delegates hands one by one HA) as well as the plenary session that I had to moderate (it was terrifying at first) π
Incredibly thankful for this rare opportunity π
