#ResistMarch

On Sunday i had an unique opportunity to join in a human rights march called #ResistMarch. It was done on L.A. pride weekend so while it was probably originally organised to highlight the atrocious discrimination that the LGBTQ community face, it became a march to highlight all forms of oppression that any community is facing. There were thousands of people there which made me happy that so many people were awake on these issues. The mark was about 3 miles long and there were many speakers at the beginning and at the end. Rep Nancy Pelosi (she is the Minority House leader), Rep Maxine Waters (i really like her blunt political style), Rep Adam Schiff, Mrs Cecile Richard (President of Planned Parenthood) and even Adam Lambert was there speaking at the march. This issue of civil rights is something i feel very strongly for. I haven’t had much opportunities to express my viewpoints and fight for what i believe in just yet (i am still just 22) so when an opportunity like this comes around, i’m sure as heck not going to pass it up. It was quite amazing & inspiring for me to see so many people be open about themselves in the face of danger and discrimination. I get very, very infuriated when i hear about discriminatory acts. Well actually it kinda breaks me and then infuriates me. Two of my favourite lines form the march’s speakers

  1. If you are not fighting for everyone’s rights then you are not fighting at all
  2. A rainbow is only a rai bow when all the colours shine as brightly as each other

The world is hurting in so many different ways. If we keep ignoring and focusing on ourselves, we risk letting everything spiral out of control. Enough of the hate, it has wrecked the world enough. So i say, LEAVE HATE IN THE PAST!
