Sunday started out with Derrick, Anandani Akka and myself going out to Lake Austin for some Kayaking! I had not gone kayaking since my secondary school days so i was looking forward to this. We managed to get on the lake (Derrick and Akka on a double and i was on a single) by 9 and we were out there for about 1.5 hours). I had only ever gone kayaking in the ocean so doing so in a lake was a new experience for me. We did manage to see quite a number of animals such as turtles, ducks, crane and even a pair of swans. There were so many turtles just chilling on logs watching the world go by and the swans were so beautiful (I managed to get within a few feet of the swans, so friendly). After heading back we all just hung out while my Aunt and Amrietha Akka were whipping up a delicious Crab Curry lunch. By time we all had finished lunch, it was about 2.30 and just a few hours away form our reservation. All three sisters were heading out for a pedicure while Derrick and I headed to some local breweries to try some of the local beer. We visited two bars and we i managed to try 7 different beers. It was really exceptional and i was just wishing that i could have access to these beers in Singapore HAHA. Had a absolute blast hanging out with Derrick (I just gained a new brother 😀 ). So despite getting to two bars, we were the first ones at dinner 😉
Dinner was at this restaurant called Launderette. It was a really cosy restaurant that had excellent food. I was just having so much fun. After dinner, all of us headed back home. Derrick and I took a quick walk around the neighbourhood trails to see the deer that were in the surrounding wood and we managed to see a whole bunch off them!!! There was a small surprise planned as we celebrated an early father’s day for Uncle (he would be away on work during actual father’s day). After the celebration, which had amazing cakes made earlier by Amrietha Akka and my Aunt, we all retired to the TV room where i showed everyone pictures from the Trans-Siberian Railway. We also had a good time/laugh while looking at old pictures (i had scanned these film photos during my time in the house). Each photo had a story and some were really quite funny so it was a pretty awesome end to a pretty awesome day. I was really sad to see everyone fly back on Monday (except sister Amrietha who was staying longer) but this was a weekend i will never forget 😀
