So after my solo travels in NYC, i was on a bus and headed to Washington D.C.
Had a pretty strange bus ride with one of the windows of the bus cracking (no idea how it happened) and caused a 2 hour delay. Eventually i did make it to Union station and made it to the hostel. In this extended travel, i had been to alot of hostels, so i had sort of a reference when it came to judging the quality of a hostel. The one is D.C. were really good. The first hostel i stayed at was the HI Washington DC Hostel and it was really good. Friendly staff, ample amenties (good shower/free breakfast/laundry services) and even a lift! So after unpacking and getting a much needed shower, i headed to meet my sisters for dinner. It was a pretty chill night.
The next day was a pretty relaxed one as well. Woke up for a pretty good hostel breakfast and headed to the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History. It was pretty nice with a wide range of exhibits. There were dinosaurs exhibits as well as exhibits from deep under the ocean such as giant squids and angler fishes! The gemstone exhibit was pretty cool as well with the Hope Diamond (45 carats) being on display. The mummy exhibit was interesting but the insect exhibit was informative but gave me the creeps due to the many species of Tarantula they had on (just really don’t like spiders). After the Museum, i headed over to the local Manchester United pub near Farragut West Metro Station for the United derby game. It had an awesome atmosphere with so many United fans there! (i had no idea football had such a following in the US). The game ended in a draw unfortunately. Last on the list was eating at Good Foods Eatery, this really nice burger joint near Capitol Hill. They had one of the best burgers ever! After which i headed back home to rest and catch up on some laundry as the next day was going to be long and exhausting!
