Animal Kingdom

After a short flight and some bus/uber travelling we had settled into our Airbnb in Orlando. It was an absolutely lovely place that was quiet and comfortable. Orlando was a big place that reminded me alot of Gold Coast in Australia where the road was huge and buildings were far apart. It made travel pretty much impossible without a car. I was really lucky Prashanth (My cousin/brother) could join me for this week of my travels as the theme parks would probably not be as fun without him 🙂 The first day was nothing much as we mostly rested ourselves, explored the area and prepared for the next few days.

Early on Monday the 17th of April, we headed to Disney’s Animal Kingdom! This was my first time ever being in a Disney theme-park, something that i had wanted to do since i was 7, so i was super excited. It was a pretty efficient line to get in and we immediately headed for the Safari within the park. Animal Kingdom was both a theme park and a zoo, which was awesome as there were animals just roaming about (not dangerous ones of course). The safari brought us close to a wide range of animals they had at the zoo such as Rhinos, Lions, Gazelles, Hippos and many more. I’ve always loved animals so it was pretty awesome to see them up close. For the next couple of hours after the safari we explored the park, did some exhilarating rides (like the Everest expedition), went on some trails where animals were in their enclosures. I really appreciated the fact that a company like Disney had taken an interest in the conservation effort.  We met a couple of characters as well (which made me excited like the many 5 year olds that were there HAHA). We met Baloo, King Louie , Tarzan, Donald Duck and Flik . One of the major highlights of the day was the shows we attended . One was the Festival of the Lion King and the other was the Finding Nemo Musical. The Nemo musical was great but the Lion King one was incredible. I actually had chills when i heard the performers sing the Lion King songs and the characters like Timon, Pumba and Simba appear. It was different from Broadway but still absolutely spectacular. We ended our day early in the park as we had an early rise for the Kennedy Space Center the next days o we headed back at about 6.
